Week 58

Hey everyone!

This week has been pretty great! We were able to have Zone conference, Terry got baptized, watch the Women's broadcast, AND got over being sick!
Zone conference was so funny this  time. It was all about setting people with a date but they twisted it with dating too. It was an entertaining time!
If you haven't watched Elder Uchtdorfs talk I highly suggest it! It was amazing! Also cool story in the ensign about Chocolate cake.. that is about my zone leader so if you feel up to it you can read that too!

Enjoy all these pictures! !!

Week 57

HELLO! IT'S ME!🎶
Sis.Hunt and I are still doing awesome here in Sumrall! Besides how the weather started to get hot and humid again these past few days..but it's all good!! I like the heat!
This week was pretty rough, but I have an awesome companion and awesome ward members around me who are always there to help me out!! SO blessed.

This week we went to Chick-Fil-A with the Williams, and we gave Matt a pass along card, and told him to give it to the guy at the register at the drive through instead of his credit card. He did it. And the kid was way confused. But we all laughed and this kid said he would actually come to church and that he was new to the area and looking for a place to go on Sunday! MORE BLESSINGS! He didn't end up coming to church, but we will catch him. Another excuse to make a trip to Chick-Fil-A right? ;)

There was one day this week and it was probably my worst day out here so far-Sis.Huntand I were SO over this week. So we went to eat lunch and a member was there and payed for our food! This doesn't happen out here in Mississippi guys...only in Utah and Idaho haha. More tender mercies. That brightened our day by 1000000%.

Even though this has been one heck of a rough week, I know how important it is to pick yourself back up and to keep on going with the Lord's work. Never let rough days/weeks effect your faith and dim your testimonies! Look for Heavenly Father's hand in your life EVERY DAY and PRAY to help see it as well!!

We also celebrated Elder Wandry's Birthday this week! We made oreos and they were a hit (thanks for teaching me how to bake cookies mom!) We also celebrated our half birthdays as a companionship even though mine is not this week and Sis. Hunt's is in December.. Why not right? it was a good time!

Also Terry is going to get baptized this week! We are really excited for him! And praying that it will be a memorable experience for him! He's crazy and so ready and prepared! It's pretty amazing to see how the gospel can change people's lives. It continues to change mine daily.

Week 56

HEY EVERYONE!!

- Last Monday was like the zombie apocalypse in Walmart, you guys probably are more informed than I am because...you know...#NoInternetLife... but Hurricane Irma is hitting Florida and it's not going to hit us (hopefully) but years ago that's what they said about Hurricane Katrina and it still hit here-so everyone is paranoid about the storms all around us haha. But it's all good here!! Praying for those in Texas and Florida though!!

- I GOT A SOUTHERN GOSPEL MIXTAPE! We were talking to this kid who works in the grocery store in Sumrall, and he told us he sang, so we went to his car and he played his mix tape and sang for us, then gave us a copy of it haha I'm so stoked about it!

- This week we knocked on this lady's door and she wasn't interested, so I asked for referrals around her neighborhood, and she goes, "I don't think people like it when you knock on their doors.." (and Sis. hunt just stared at her..lol we were so done) and she's like "Don't you guys run into that?" and I said, "NOPE! People are actually very nice when we knock on their doors!" And she was caught so off guard, and she was just all like, "OH. Carry on then." and shut the door haha. Tracting is the best....

- We also got dropped by 3 of our investigators which is really frustrating and discouraging, but GUESS WHAT!? Terry is getting baptized next week!! So we are still blessed and very thankful that we can physically see our work efforts going forth and are able to see changes people are making in their lives because they come to know the truthfulness of this gospel!!

Seriously, this is the true church. I would NOT be here on a mission for 18 months in the middle of no-where Mississippi if I didn't want to share the truth with others who don't know about it. It's hard, but so rewarding. I LOVE the people here in Mississippi, and the weather is getting cooler too! Hopefully it stays that way!! Because we love being outside right now! Sis.Hunt and I are doing awesome!! I am so grateful for her and we never want to get transferred and taken away from each other haha. She makes missionary life the best.

p.s: We proselyte at football games in our town on the weekends. No, we are not on dates with other missionaries lol.. that's dumb. Passing out Book of Mormons at a football games is where it's at though!! @ MJMmissionaries

Love you all! Talk to you next Monday!!

Week 55

Hey everyone!
This week was a good week and really funny! It started out with both of us getting sick though and we felt like we got hit by trucks. But we made it though!
On Wednesday we were doing our personal study and randomly checked our phone. We were under tornado warning and a tornado had touched down about 15 miles from where we live! So that was nutty! There were 4 tornadoes on Wednesday in the Hburg area! So that was crazy!! Sis hunt had bever been in a tornado warning.. we ended up hiding in the tub haha it was so funny!

Thursday we went tracting and this man was so anti it was funny and we turned around and his lamp fell over and shattered... he looked at us like we had devil powers.. it  was pretty funny actually we were trying really hard not to laugh.

Saturday we tracted all day long and around 4 we headed into the city for a dinner appointment/ to visit some members. Well we went to a members donut shop and and they werent there but we both felt like we were about to fall asleep because we had taken some nyquil the night prior.. and yeah that stuff is strong.. well anyway we decided that we would take a quick 5 minute power nap. And a member came and knocked on out window and scared us so bad! It was so funny. But then we went to our dinner appointment and had Filipino food! Sis hunt was in paradise (she is half Filipino)

Sunday was a struggle! We had to be at the church at 7 and we live 30 minutes away from it. But we made it on time! We also had an awesome appointment after churh with the Trussll's ! They are one of the most amazing families I have ever met! They are really missionary oriented. They have 2 kids out on missions- I actually met one of them in the MTC- And at dinner they brought the cutest lady and we had a really good lesson on the Book of Mormon and then after our lesson she told us she wanted us to come and read with her weekly and wanted to learn more about it. So that was amazing! And Then we had some other appointments with a lot of people that have a lot of potential! It was a good week! A kid bore his testimony about his mom and said " she is like the spirit, but louder!" It was funny but I sat there and thought about how true it was. Mom really is like the spirit but louder.. ha! Thanks for that mom! Sometimes I need to be told in more than just a whisper.

Last night was fun as well! We got invited over to the Duff's home for dinner. It was really fancy for labor day but hey I'm not complaining! It was also one of the most spiritual lessons I have had on my mission. The spirit was so strong there. We talked about sacrifice and that led into us bearing our testimonies and we had a mini testimony meeting with everyone there. And everyone participated. It was really amazing. It is so cool how much the spirit can work on people and how present it can be when you are talking about Christ.

I know that this church is true and that is is Christ's church once again on the earth today. I am so thankful for my testimony. I know that without it I would be lost. But with it I can have joy. And that is a pretty amazing thing to know. That even in our hardest and darkest times, we can still feel joy.
I know that the Book Of Mormon is the word of God and it is the truest book we have on this earth. I challenge anyone that hasn't read it to read it and pray about it and find out for themselves if it is true or not.

I hope you all have a blessed week!
Much love,
Sister DeCamp
