Week 61

Hey everyone!

I am now in Long Beach Mississippi! It's the coolest! I am loving it! I am less than 2 miles from the ocean..so lets hope another hurricane doesn't come! My new companion is Sister Doxey! She is a sweetheart and hitting her 11 month mark TODAY! So that's exciting! She is a stellar missionary and a super hard worker! That girl isn't giving me anytime to breathe! It's great! We have a really awesome investigator name Rochelle! She is planning on getting baptized on November 4th! We are so excited for her about that! When I first met her I thought she was already a member! She is bringing the gospel to everyone she meets! It's been a blast getting to know her this week! I'm super looking forward to being able to work with her more!

Something SUPER AWESOME that happened this week! They reorganized the Slidell Louisiana Stake and so ELDER CHRISTOFFERSON of the Quorum of the 12 was here! The spirit he brought into the conference was incredible! Every single person the spoke talked about the Book of Mormon and the strength that it gives us. It's so true! The Book of Mormon is powerful and it can help us in so many ways. I have been able to strengthen my testimony and grow closer to my Savior and Father in Heaven by reading it!

So I have been studying a few of teh recent conference talks this past week and one really stood out to me. It's called Do we Trust Him? Hard is Good- And I love this talk! Do we trust the Lord? Because he trusts us! And hard times and trials are a blessing. Sometimes we don't see it that way, I know that I definitely don't all the time. But those hard times help us and can make us better if we let them. One thing about this that i loved was that it said that hard was the constant. and if you think about it it really is, things will always be hard for us or can be hard for us. But the variable is how we react to that hard! hard is part of the plan. We just chose how we react to hard! Something good to ponder on this week! How will you react to hard?

Well I hope that you all have a great week! And don't forget to do the simple things like pray and read your scriptures. The simple things are what help us overcome out weaknesses!

Love you!

Week 58

Hey everyone!

This week has been pretty great! We were able to have Zone conference, Terry got baptized, watch the Women's broadcast, AND got over being sick!
Zone conference was so funny this  time. It was all about setting people with a date but they twisted it with dating too. It was an entertaining time!
If you haven't watched Elder Uchtdorfs talk I highly suggest it! It was amazing! Also cool story in the ensign about Chocolate cake.. that is about my zone leader so if you feel up to it you can read that too!

Enjoy all these pictures! !!

Week 50

Hey y'all!

So this week was so crazy! I t's a long story but I am no longer in YSA. I have been moved to Sumrall Mississippi! Its about 45 minutes from Hburg! But also in the middle of the country. It will be a great place to be! My new comp is Sister Hunt. She is still training so I am excited for that! She is super cool!

Also the best thing in the world happened!! JASMIN GOT BAPTIZED!!!!!
It was such a special day and a special spirit about it. She is going to change the world. I truly believe that She is going to be one of God's greatest tools in spreading the gospel to the world. She has such a light about her and wants everyone to know what that light is and how they can have it too!  She is such and example to me! I love her lots!!

I hope everyone has a blessed week! And always remember to Choose the Harder right instead of the easier wrong.

Much love,
Sister DeCamp

This week has been real good! I said goodbye to Sister Wilson who is now on the beaches of Jamaica (only a little jealous) and hello to my new greenie Sister Higby! She is pretty great! And a hard worker. We have been able to find a lot of potentials and teach a lot! It's been great!

Jasmin is all set for her baptism on Saturday! And we are soo excited for her! She is such an amazing girl with a killer testimony! That girl is going places! She is already planning on serving a mission and going to the temple next month! I am excited for her and to see where she goes.

Week 48

 Hey everyone!

This morning we got transfer calls. Sister Wilson will be flying back to Jamaica and I will be staying, but not just staying. I get to train again! I am so pumped! This area is a goldmine and such a fun place!
We have a baptism on the 29 in the YSA ward! Her name is Jasmin and she is the COOLEST!! We had an amazing experience that she told me I could share. So when we met Jasmin she was pretty stand off ish towards us. She didn't really want us around (her roommate is a member which is how we met her) but she decided to stay in on a lesson we had which was about how much God loves us and how Jesus Christ went through everything with us and won't forget us. We shared 1 Nephi 21:14-16 and then asked if we could come back and explain a little more about the Book of Mormon. She was hesitant but agreed. We went back and read the introduction and shared some of the Restoration with her. We went back and talked about the spirit and how its small and she started crying because she said she could feel it. it was so special. We asked her to read the Plan of Salvation Pamphlet and come to church. She came to church and then we went to have a lesson with her. She had ended up downloading the Gospel Library app, and read every single pamphlet on there, as well as some of the Book of Mormon, taught us the lessons and then asked when she could be baptized because she knew it was all true. WHOA! It was really cool and put us in awe. This girl has completely changed her life in 2 weeks and was so prepared by the Lord. she is such an example to me. I know that the Lord has people prepared, and it takes people like us, like all of us, to help each other come to Christ.

It's not always to go out of your comfort zone and talk to people about the Savior or even about church or our beliefs but I know that when we do that we are blessed and we can bless others.

Have a stellar week! I have to go help Sister Wilson pack her bags!!

Week 47

Happy Independence Day!!
I hope y'all had as good of a day as I did! We were able to spend a lot of time with some new investigators as well as members from different wards!

This week started off awesome with LaTesha and Kaydan's baptism! It was such a great day! Kaydan is an amazing example to me as well as his family. He is 10 years old and has such a love for the gospel and a desire to learn. On Sunday her bore his testimony and then in primary they talked about missions and he told everyone that he wanted to go. And then at his baptism he was dancing with joy about how he was getting baptized today. It was the cutest thing ever! And his desire to be at church is so cool. He takes off to class and keeps his family there. It's really funny and really cool to see too.

We had zone conference last week and it was probably my favorite one since being out. They focused a lot on joy and how the gospel can bring us joy. They also had us write down our "whys" Why we came out on a mission and why we stayed out on the mission. It was kind of mind blowing to think about where I was a year ago in comparison to where I am now. And what is important to me.

We were asked to study from Mosiah 2-4 this week. And it is about joy. I know that this gospel brings joy to our lives. It has brought so much joy to my life. Even on the hard days we can find joy and happiness from our Savior. Remember to look for the positives, Because you find what you look for, look for the good.

Love y'all

Week 46

Whoa! Where has time gone?! I feel like I just barely left!
Things in Hattiesburg are great! We are having 2 baptisms this week and hopefully more within the month! Miracles are happening! Our baptisms are LaTesha and Kaydan! They are the coolest, a mother and son! They have come to church every week since I have been here and have seen so many changes in their lives. LaTesha told us yesterday that her cousin commented on how happier she seems and Latesha said it's because I have been going to church and taking lessons from sister missionaries, you should meet them! Haha look at her being a little missionary! She's the coolest!!

On Tuesday for PDay we went to the zoo! It was so much fun! It was raining the whole time though so we couldn't see some of the animals, but they have this hill that you can slide down and so it was so much fun becuase it was wet so we went a lot faster!

On Saturday we got a call from some people in our branch saying that they were going to Camp Shelby which is the Air Force base here. We got to go and give the sacrament to about 15 people! It was such a spiritual experience. Something that I will never forget. Soemthing that was truly cool was that there were 5 nonmembers there- all of which came up to us after and thanked us and asked how they could learn more! seriously incredible!!

Things are going great here!! We have zone conference this week and I am really looking forward to that! I love it because it's always such a spiritual boost! And helps you finish the transfer off strong!

Well I love y'all! Remember to pray and study the scriptures. And don't be afraid to ask questions. The Lord hears your prayers and he will answer you! That is something that I know is true! No matte what the Lord will take care of you. He has a path for you that you might not always understand but it's always what's best! Have faith and trust in the Lord!
Have a blessed week! Stay safe and happy!

Much love,
Sister DeCamp

Week 29

Hey y'all!
This week was so good! We had exchanges and Zone Conference AND Harley got baptized!
On exchanges I was able to go with Sister Marble again. Shes' great! We always have a good time. This time we were able to go with the young women, it was a lot of fun!

At Zone Conference Sister Olson talked a lot about trials and why we have them and how they are a blessing to our lives. It was a wonderful talk and it stood out to me because I had recently been studying about trials and how they are for our benefit. But when you are over your trial you should look back at what you learned and let all the grudges and hard feelings if you have any go. And I just thought that was pretty neat!

Yesterday Harley got baptized. She is such an example to me as well as her family. Her mom who is not a member came up to us after and told us thank you and that she was wondering if she could start the lessons and that she also wanted to start coming to church as a family. It was the coolest and such a tender mercy! We love this family!

I hope that y'all have a blessed week and remember that the Lord answers your prayers in lots of different ways! I love y'all! B happy and share the gospel!

Sister DeCamp

Week 16

Hey y'all
This week was so great! Bill and Kathy got baptized! It was probably one of the BEST days I have ever had. I love them so much! It was such a happy day for everyone. We also were the ones who got to clean the font-which was super gross so it took lots of soap and cleaners and a lot of laughing. It was a great day! On Sunday they were confirmed and their blessings were amazing, and then Bill also received the Priesthood. Such a spiritual day. It reminded me of my baptism and confirmation days
I also found a turtle named Frank on the side of the road, but since we were tracting I wasn't able to keep him..
Today we have exchanges and I am looking forward to that! I'm also excited to say that another one of our investigators, Asha is on date for baptism is January! And Hopefully will be able to progress toward that day!
Sister Gunther is a pretty great missionary, and it is really fun to train.
The Lord is so mindful our our needs and our prayers! I'm grateful to be a missionary! I Love my mission so much!
I hope y'all have a blessed week! And HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
